The Sun Ignites The Darkened Trails of Laurel Canyon by Beggars At The Gate, otherwise known as Manic Messiah. Laurel Canyon is located in the Hollywood Hills region of the Santa Monica Mountains, in the Western District of Los Angeles, California.
Laurel Canyon is the subject of a book by Dave McGowan, titled “Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon: Covert Ops & the Dark Heart of the Hippie Dream.” Mr. McGowan’s book posited that many of the more visible and popular musical groups of the sixties, were created to divert and obscure real opposition to the imperial presence of the United States in Vietnam.
The early opponents to the Vietnam conflict came from conservative professor and intellectuals. These opponents were serious men who presented themselves well. Many artists congregated in a small community in Laurel Canyon. These included Frank Zappa, The Doors, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and others. Performances were given featuring what were freaks, an unkempt and dirty band of what were later referred to as hippies.
The purpose behind the creation and promotion of these groups was to deflect attention from the serious and studied opponents of the Vietnam conflict, and insert the hippies as the singular voice of anti-war sentiment. Such unwashed hippies, consumed by drugs and immorality, found a resistant audience among many in the 1950s and 1960s America.
Many, if not most of the artists and musicians who formed the nucleus of the Laurel Canyon community were the children of high ranking intelligence officials, military officers, and other participants in what is often referred to as the military industrial complex. Jim Morrison of the Doors is the son of the infamous Admiral Morrison, who was a chief engineer of the Gulf of Tonkin incident, a false flag event that propelled the United States into the Vietnam War.
I believe it was Lenin who said if you want to control the opposition, then you must lead it. Throughout American history, and indeed world history, most opposition movements are either infiltrated by the very entities they oppose, or are in fact, created by those very entities.
Here are the lyrics to “The Sun Ignite The Darkened Trails of Laurel Canyon”:
HEY, JAMES DEAN
WITH A POCKET FULL OF PUZZLES
AND A HEAD TWISTED SERPENTINE
HE PROBABLY LET OUT A LAUGH
AS HE WENT TO HIS FIERY CRASH
IT SHOULD GIVE ONE A PAUSE
CAN A REBEL TRULY HAVE NO CAUSE?
THE LIZARD KING
HE KISSED THE RING
SO CAME THE DEMONIC SPAWN
OF THE ADMIRAL MORRISON
BUT SUCH HISTORY FORGOTTEN
IN THE MUDDY GULF OF TONKIN
PLASTIC TREES
AND CARDBOARD SCENES
UPON A MANAGED STAGE
THE DIRECTOR FALSELY WAVES HIS FLAG
BEHIND, THERE IS A WALL
ACTORS WAITING FOR THEIR CALL
ATOMIC BOMBS AND ASTRONAUTS
AND OTHER SORDID PLOTS
STINKING, SORDID PLOTS
OUT THERE ON THE LOT
HAZY SCENES
AND HIPPIE DREAMS
BURIED IN THE HAZE
HIDDEN IN THE MAZE
ANY HOPES THAT WERE LEFT STANDING
BECAME THE FACE OF MANSON
FOR, VIRTUE MOSTLY WALKS ALONE
AND TRUTH ITS OWN COMPANION
TRUTH ITS OWN COMPANION
ALONE THERE IN THE CANYON
TRUTH ITS OWN COMPANION
TRUTH ITS OWN COMPANION
