Superman In The Supermarket is an original song created by Beggars At The Gate.  Featured on this song is Pasquini on guitar, and Ted Owen on drums.  This song was partially inspired by a short story that Norman Mailer wrote, for Esquire Magazine, I believe, entitled, Superman In The Supermarket.

The title was intriguing, and invited the reader to investigate the writing. Upon reading the short piece by Norman Mailer, it became clear that the Mr. Mailer’s significance to the title, Superman In The Supermarket, differed greatly than that imagined by the lyricist.

The Devil Comes In Many Forms is an original song by Beggars At The Gate.  This was one of the first songs created by Beggars At The Gate.  The author considers the lyrics among the best contributed by the musical group.

The musical composition is good.  However, as this song was early in the musical creations of the group, the producer as well as the composer of the bassline, did not have a full understanding of some of the nuances of musical composition.  The great guitarist and composer, Pasquini, made recommendations as to how to compose the bassline, which the producer discounted based upon his restricted knowledge of composition.  As such, the producer, given the opportunity, will revisit this composition in the future, in order to properly form this song.

Despite this criticism, Pasquini did greatly enhance the quality of the song with his guitar performance.  Also, Ted Owen, the exceptional percussionist of the group Beggars At The Gate, delivered an exceptional performance.  Justin Colen, the sound engineer, modified the vocal to create a deeper and more menacing deliverance.

It is important generally, and more specifically in musical composition, to understand and analyze objectively, one’s talents and deficiencies.  The musical compositions of Beggars At The Gate became quickly and progressively better as the Producer gained confidence in the exceptional musicians who contributed to this project.  Basic rules of composition were agreed to by the members, but each individual musician was given the freedom to compose and perform, as such endeavors related to their individual talents and chosen musical instruments.

Here Comes The Zombies! Is a song by Beggars At The Gate.  This song was written in probably 2015 or 2016.  The lyrics were written before the instrumental was made.    The lyricist had a concept of what he was seeking in terms of an instrumental.  The style of lyrics seemed to lend towards a more punk rock style of instrumental.

Guitar is played by Danny Robinson.  The lyricist discussed the style of music he was intending, and the basic concept of what he was seeking in terms of the guitar.  Danny Robinson had played for the lyricist a CD with some music he had previously recorded live.  His guitar playing had a good, rough style that was complimentary to the punk rock style.  The guitar composition is conceived otherwise completely through the imagination and performance of the guitar player on this song, Danny Robinson.

Pink Like A Pig is a song or music presentation by Beggars At The Gate.  This musical track is a relatively new version of Pink Like A Pig.  This song features the guitar virtuoso of Pasquini, combined with Ted Owen on percussion, and Jay Weller on bass.  Jay Weller also provides the lyrics and vocals on this song.

Pink Like A Pig begins with a more comical lyrical presentation and becomes more aggressive and rebellious in its presentation.  As the lyrics begin, “I am pink like a pig, I don’t wear a wig, a dark wool knit hat, long nose like a rat, have darkened sunglasses….”  As the song continues, the lyrics become darker and more aggressive, “I’m pink like a pig, But don’t put a rope on my neck, To yank back my head, “’cause for your truffles won’t dig,  won’t do the jig, won’t do your gig” and “You may have a big farm, animals on alarm, set against each ‘arn…..”  The song ends with a warning to potential oppressors, “I’ll fight with my hoofs, throw you’re a** of the roof, you yank back my head, you might end up dead…..”

Pink Like A Pig is a song that can be interpreted on numerous levels.  At the most basic level, the song is comical and frivolous.  At a secondary level, there are allusions to such concepts as presented in George Orwell’s Animal Farm.  At the deeper level, Pink Like A Pig is a statement of the present condition of man, and an utterance of rebellion.

The author wrestled with the final line in the song which is “You yank back my head, you might end up dead.”  A competing line is “You yank back my head, this pig will turn red.”  The first line supposes some form of violence as a reaction to the oppressive actions by the engineers of human enslavement, the powers that be, or however one describes the individuals, collective group or groups or whatever dynamic creates, perpetuates, or continues the malicious oppression of the majority of human existence and consciousness.

Any real rebellion or change will likely not arrive at the point of a spear.  Any change will arrive through an evolution of collective consciousness, intent and attitude.
