SUPERMAN IN THE SUPERMARKET

SUPERMAN IN THE SUPERMARKET
BY JAY WELLER

Superman In The Supermarket is an original song created by Beggars At The Gate.  Featured on this song is Pasquini on guitar, and Ted Owen on drums.  This song was partially inspired by a short story that Norman Mailer wrote, for Esquire Magazine, I believe, entitled, Superman In The Supermarket.

The title was intriguing, and invited the reader to investigate the writing. Upon reading the short piece by Norman Mailer, it became clear that the Mr. Mailer’s significance to the title, Superman In The Supermarket, differed greatly than that imagined by the lyricist.

SUPERMAN IN THE SUPERMARKET
STROLLING DOWN THE AISLE
WITH HIS WINNING SMILE
AND HIS KILLER STYLE

SUPERMAN IN THE SUPERMARKET
GLOSSY MAGAZINES
ACTORS, KINGS AND QUEENS
IN THEIR SUPER SCENES

SUPERMAN IN THE SUPERMARKET
AT THE CASHIER’S RACK
ABOVE THE CANDY CRACK
CIGARS IN THE BACK

SUPERMAN IN THE SUPERMARKET
WAVING AT HIS FANS
THEY BOW TO KISS HIS HANDS
CAN’T ALL BE SUPERMANS
